How to get super glue off metal—step by step

Get rid of the mess with these simple steps on how to get super glue off metal.

                  1. Clean up. The area needs to be dry and clean before proceeding.
                  2. Apply and scrape. Put on your gloves and soak a cotton ball or pad in acetone or nail polish remover. Apply the cotton to the excess glue for 5 to 10 minutes. When it feels like it’s starting to loosen, use a razor blade, plastic scraper, or putty knife to scrape off the glue. Be careful not to scratch the surface.
                  3. Wipe and repeat as necessary. With most of the glue removed from the surface, repeat the above steps as necessary to eliminate any remaining residue.
                  4. Dry off. Once all the glue has been removed, use the sponge to clean the metal with soapy water. Dry it off with a clean rag.

Prefer a method for getting super glue off metal without acetone? Use vinegar as a replacement! It may not work as quickly, but you can simply follow the same steps as above. You may need to soak the area with the cotton ball and vinegar for up to an hour while the glue softens. You can also try other common solvents such as lighter fluid or denatured alcohol.

                  And now—back to your project!
